There is undoubtedly an ideological anti-climate science agenda being carried out in the U.S. and Australia. The use of profit and jobs as a value metric is a powerful tactic in the execution of this agenda. It is powerful, because, the argument can be made that it has merit.

What is presented to the world appears as a political decision. It is a political decision that squanders unique human capital and damages or destroys capacity. It is a conscious decision to increase ignorance about the future in a precarious world where knowledge supports economic success and societal security. As such, it is a fundamental abrogation of civil responsibility.

I have a friend going a sea cruise, and he’ll be talking about climate change. He is expecting questions about the warming hiatus. Now, I don’t know what my readers think about scientists on vacation, but this sounds about right. I promised a summary of what has happened to the hiatus distraction since the last cruise.
